Connecticut Energy Marketers Association (CEMA) sounded the alarm today concerning a new proposed state energy plan which would virtually increase energy costs across the board from the way you heat your home during cold winter months, to the way you cool your home during hot summer months like we are experiencing now, to the way you drive to work when you fill up at the pump!

“State regulators call it ‘carbon pricing’ and ‘low-carbon incentives’ but make no mistake about it, those are code words for creating new carbon taxes that would only increase energy costs for virtually everyone in the state of Connecticut! We are here to sound the alarm and encourage the people to help us fight this while there is still time to kill this absurd and out-of-touch proposal!” said Chris Herb, President and CEO of CEMA.

This week, the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) released more information regarding its new Comprehensive Energy Strategy (CES) 2022, which sets the stage for the state’s proposed energy future. It includes information regarding new carbon taxes, which would increase the price of home heating oil, gasoline, diesel, natural gas and even possibly electricity! Basically, anything that is generated with fossil fuels could cost more at a time when energy costs are already through the roof and inflation is at a 40 year high!
