See Chris Herb’s statement regarding the expected announcement by President Biden

“Connecticut consumers should be aware that the expected announcement by President Biden scheduled for this morning to ban Russian oil imports will push what are already historically high prices even higher. Simply put, it will cost more to fill up at the pump and heat your home. Russian oil exports account for about one-third of Europe’s oil imports – for the United States, Russian exports are just under 10% of U.S. overall imports.  Crude oil prices have already responded with an increase of $10 per barrel in advance of the announcement and the price that motorists and homeowners pay for fuel will follow. We urge the President to utilize the tools that helped America become energy independent just a couple of years ago, in an effort to offset the pain that high fuel prices are causing families in Connecticut and across America. “
