ITEC Offers a Variety of One-Day and Half-Day Seminars to Sharpen Your Skills

  • AC TROUBLESHOOTING & CHARGING

Your Energy Conservation Technicians need the fundamental skills to properly install and maintain air conditioning systems in your customers homes. Provide your technicians with the opportunity to obtain a complete understanding of modern air conditioning electrical components and fundamental skills required to troubleshoot and maintain residential & light commercial HVAC refrigeration systems. Let’s give your technicians the advantage of confidence & skill to handle AC systems. They need analytical procedures, the ability to identify issues & determine a course of action to eliminate any problems or concerns with your customer’s air conditioning unit. Topics to include: -Programmable Thermostats -Modern Furnaces -Air Handlers -Condensing Units -Air Conditioning Motors -Central Air Conditioning Wiring -Safety & Controls -Troubleshooting Technicians will be able to refresh their skills and learn some new ones. Join us in the lab: -Identify components -Measure system refrigerant pressures & temperatures -System airflow & capacity -Measuring wet & dry bulb air flow conditions -Calculating system superheat & subcooling -Restricted condensers & evaporator airflow -Calculate refrigerant charge and understand the proper charging methods. -Proper use tools and testing instruments for system diagnosis -General rules of safety -Understand EPA guidelines -Hands on evaluation of equipment Seminar includes: ACCA Calculator/Pocket Card Set (Superheat/Subcooling Charging Calculator/Slide Rule for use with HCFC-22 systems; Superheat/Subcooling Charging Calculator/Slide Rule for use with R 410A systems; Natural Gas Manifold Pressure Calculator; Pocket Service Card-Residential for HCFC-22 systems; and Pocket Service Card-Residential for HFC-134A systems) 8:30am-3:30pm NOTE: Students will need to bring hand tools, meters and gauges.

ITEC's Plumbing Continuing Education Unit classes. ITEC has been approved by the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection to offer Plumbing CEUs and is pleased to offer a comprehensive seminar for contractors and journeymen who need to acquire their continuing education units for licensing. Continuing Education is mandatory for licensed plumbers for license renewal. Journeymen are required to complete 5 hours of continuing education every odd numbered year as a condition of license renewal. Contractors must complete 7 hours of continuing education every even numbered year as a condition of license renewal.

The seminars are conducted from 8.00am to 4.00pm for CONTRACTORS, and 8.00am to 1.00pm for JOURNEYMEN on Saturdays here at the ITEC School.

ITEC's Solar Thermal Certification course is approved by the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection and covers everything you need to get you on your way to acquiring your solar thermal license. This 24 hour - 3 day course is designed for those individuals who already hold a Connecticut P-1, P-2, P-3, P-4 or S-1, S-2, S-3 or S-4 license.

Our course will include
all aspects of solar thermal work—installation, erection, repair, replacement, alteration or maintenance of active, passive and hybrid solar systems that directly convert ambient energy into heat or convey, store & distribute such ambient energy.

ITEC’s Solar Thermal Certification Course covers solar theory, solar energy fundamentals, energy wave forms, heat transfer, insulation values and how they are effected by location, season and climate. The theory of how to correctly measure and size a solar system and make a site assessment will be covered. How to check for defects in materials and components will be covered.

The S/B/D License Review Seminar is a comprehensive review presented each month for technicians who will be undergoing their HVAC license testing. 

ITEC's S/B/D License Review class allows prospective technicians the chance to be well prepared for their chosen license examination by spending two days in a comprehensive review of what to expect on their license exam.

ITEC conducts overviews and testing for EPA Section 608 Refrigeration Certification.  The overviews cover refrigerant containment and EPA regulations.  All manuals and testing materials are provided. 

ITEC's EPA 608 Certification Exam Successful testing certifies to EPA regulations as authorized under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act. Upon successful test completion, students will receive a certificate of completion and a wallet card indicating certification approval.

ITEC's CETP/Propane training You can take CETP/Propane training in many places - but there is a great reason why you should take your training with ITEC.
